Cap walk is a cause of lost oil pressure and engine failure. Under extreme loads insufficient main cap contact and clamping load can combine to crate cap walk and engine failure.
Combined with the multiple register points and the highest clamping load of all aftermarket blocks Keith Black main caps by design have full cap to block mating surface contact. Well understood fact that friction and interference are more effective locating features than a dowel, Keith Black combines both to completely eliminate the risk of cap walk - a well known issue with Chrysler RB block design.
Keith Black engine blocks use proprietary design main studs developed in partnership with ARP, 8740 heat treated chrome moly with class 3 rolled threads and includes a register for its matching main cap pair.
Main studs are bottoming studs which evenly distribute across the full thread instead of creating localized stress risers at cap mating surface and parting line. Internal block threads are thread formed to class 3 specification for ultimate accuracy, strength and service life.
KB utilizes the largest stud size of any aftermarket block to produce massive clamp loads.
High cap-to-block surface contact area, cap interference fit, KB proprietary main stud design with integrated cap locating-dowel combined with the highest possible clamping load provide for strong, rigid, dimensionally stable crankshaft main-line capable of comfortably handling truly massive amounts of torque effortlessly.
